World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland

This summer (2016) the members of the Black Watch Association Pipes & Drums (Montreal)are making a big jump accross the pond to compete at the World Pipe band Championship in Glasgow, Scotland.
We have been working very hard on the music but also on our fundraising through out the last year. To name a few events we have organised a spagetti dinner fundraiser, a Turkey fundraiser just before the Christmas holiday (always very popular), a Hogmanay celebration, a bowling day, a comedy show. Still to come we are having car washes, a large on line auction, a dinner/ comedy evening & many other activities not to mention the countless parades, shows & performances including a show at the annual St. Andrew's ball in Montreal & the St. Patrick's ball. Besides the cost of getting to Scotland, the lodging, transport, registration we also have to factor in up keep & new purchases of uniforms, drums & the bagpipes themselves. This is more then just going to the Worlds for us as we will be the first pipe band from Montreal, the first pipe band from all of Quebec to ever compete at the Worlds & we are so very excited to represent & show the world what can be produced in our little part. |
